    FIFA clears Steven Ukoh to play for Nigeria

    Steven Archibong Effiong Ukoh has been cleared by world football governing body FIFA, to play for the Super Eagles at senior level.

    The Swiss U-20 international was born on June 19, 1991 to Nigerian parents in Berne, Switzerland, but has chosen to switch his nationality to Nigerian, so he can represent the his country of origin.

    Ukoh, who currently plays for Biel-Bienne FC, has played for Switzerland at U-16, U-17, U-18, U-19 and U-20 levels, between 2006 and 2010.

    “Ukoh was cleared to switch his nationality from Switzerland to Nigeria,” a statement issued in Abuja by Ademola Olajire, Assistant Director, Communications, Nigeria Football Association (NFA) read.

    “The versatile midfielder, born on 19 June, 1991 to Nigerian parents in Berne, Switzerland, currently plays for Biel-Bienne FC in the European country. His father, Archibong Ukoh and mother Helene, hail from Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom”.
